Banana leaf minced beef recipe


Ingredients /nutrition

  • 4 dried chilies, soaked in hot water for 20 minutes and drained
  • 3 red chilies
  • 120 g shallots
  • 3 candlenuts
  • 3 slices galangal
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 3 slices fresh turmeric
  • 1 stalk lemon grass
  • 2 tsp shrimp paste (belacan)
  • 2 tsp meat curry powder
  • 2 red chilies
  • 3 lightly beaten eggs
  • 400 g minced beef
  • 150 ml thick coconut milk
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp sugar
  • 12 banana leaves

Methods / instructions

  1. Combine the first 9 ingredients from the ingredient list in a food processor or blender and process until form a smooth paste.
  2. Combine paste with remaining ingredients and divide evenly for 12 portions.
  3. Wrap mixture with banana leaves and secure with toothpicks.
  4. Steam for about 18-22 minutes.
  5. Serve hot
